The Lazy Person's Guide
Starting something you’ve been thinking about forever, but never actually starting? Yeah, we see you.
Procrastination isn’t a personality flaw, but a universal experience which we’ve all been through. Which is exactly why this isn’t just a discipline lecture; take it as a cheat code you didn’t know you needed.
The Social Media Illusion
We’ve all come across reels. Ones where people casually mention about waking up to $10K offers. Youtubers opening pr packages, and creators announcing huge brand deals like they just happened overnight.
And between seeing and sighing, we often find ourselves thinking, ‘I wish this were me.’ or ‘How do I even do this?’
Instead, you’re slapped with a reality check; a 9-5 having to work with a sore back relentlessly wishing and hoping for things to get better.
The Black Hole Nobody Wants to Talk About
Here's the part no one really explains. Most people don’t fail at content creation because they are untalented or incapable. It’s that they are constantly stuck in the loop of wanting to start and actually starting.
People often believe that they are one piece of equipment away from success. It’s always, “I’ll start when I get myself an Iphone 18” or “I need to get that $200 mic first.” It may feel like a plan, but it’s actually Procrastilearning. A sneaky way of convincing ourselves that researching is the same as doing.
The truth is, you don’t need more to be worthy of starting. You just need to give yourself the permission to be a beginner.
The Minimalist Toolkit
If content creation is a journey you’ve always wanted to walk on, but kept putting off, then this is where it all starts. This toolkit is like the spices you need for cooking.
A good lighting changes the whole premise. You don’t need expensive lights, the natural light coming from your window works just fine. Just make sure you’re facing the light source.
And if you do invest in anything, let it be a small ring light. They’re more than enough to level up your video.
People will excuse a bad visual for a good, listenable audio.
Having clear audio will instantly make your content feel more professional, even if you are using just your phone. A wired earphone, a small clip on mic, or a room with no background noise can make a huge difference to your video.
A quick hack: Record your audio under a blanket or inside a closet to reduce background noise / echo.
Right now, we’re all chasing aesthetics; a white background, fairy lights, neutral tones. We’ve seen it all.
But here’s a secret: you don’t need a Pinterest-perfect studio. It can be anywhere in your house. A clean background, stable surface, and a fixed filming spot saves a lot of time and energy.
Use what you already have but make sure to use it properly. Clean your camera lens, check if the camera is focused, and turn on grid Lines to centre yourself.
Little things make a huge difference.
The 30 Minute ‘No excuse’ Workflow
It can feel overwhelming to start from scratch, and that’s completely normal. A simple, thorough planning is exactly what you need to use your time efficiently.
Brainstorm hooks (5 minutes)
The first 3 seconds determine whether your content is here to stay or not. You need to bait the scroll.
Try these hooks to stop the scroll:
On the bright side, this is the only time doomscrolling is productive. Just make sure you have a notepad in handy so you don’t get lost in the brainrot.
Film raw footage (20 minutes)
Don’t spend time overanalyzing and thinking. As Nike’s tagline says, just do it. Don’t just film 3 or 4 videos, but record multiple takes of the same idea. Record yourself saying the hook in at least 3 different tones (Calm, high energy, and serious) so you have options when editing.
Try to not stop and restart every time you make a mistake. Pause, breathe, and keep going. Editing will handle the rest. And if you feel like you’re being a little extra, you’re probably doing it right.
#TIP: Always shoot in vertical 9:16 format to save time on formatting.
This is where magic happens, but make sure to not get too lost in the filters. If it took you 20 minutes to film a video, it will only take you 5 minutes to polish it. Cut out parts where you aren’t talking or moving.
Also, don’t forget to turn on the auto-captions feature as people often tend to watch the video on mute.
You can also use the video editing feature Veel has. If 5 minutes feels too fast for your first time, don’t sweat it. The more you edit, the faster your editing gets. Just make sure you’re not spending 3 hours choosing a font.

Tips For Content Creation
If you’re trying to create without burning out, it’s time to work smarter and not harder. There are low effort high value content styles. They’re easy to repeat. Don’t require high energy, and still drive engagement, saves and shares.
You don’t need a massive following to get paid for your creations.
Brands care less about credentials and more about proof. A few clean, consistent videos showing how you present your ideas and products is enough to get started. Don’t wait to get ready, use what you already have.
Instead of chasing brands, let brands come to you. Platforms like Veel make this process incredibly easy. They’re a one stop solution for creators wanting to connect with brands seeking for user generated content from across the globe.
You don’t need any great experience. Just a profile with examples of your work, consistency, and rejection tolerance.
Another optional but an effective way is direct outreach. Reach out to brands you are already using. Send a short email or a DM, share your content and explain how you can help their brand grow.
Go through this checklist before you post:
Does the first 3 seconds grab attention? Would you stop scrolling if this was your video?
Is it bright and natural? Or does it look dark, blurry and off?
Does it feel like a real person made this? Or too polished?
Is the voice over or sound clear and easy to understand?
Your first 10 videos will probably be your worst, and that’s not failure. It’s like a tax you pay for the good ones. And if you have videos from months ago that you have been meaning to post but kept putting off, go ahead and work on it, because even just a few minutes you put in it makes a huge difference.
